Obituary for Robert James Barnes Robert James Barnes, 92, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was born on April 26, 1926, in Ann Arbor, MI to Arthur and Gertrude Barnes. He married the love of his life Louise Darnell in 1944, together they had two children.

Robert Barnes attended Ann Arbor High School until he went into the U.S. Navy and served from 1943-1944 in WWII. Afterward, Robert owned and operated Broadway Barber Shop in Ann Arbor, MI. He eventually retired as a barber from Leonard Barbers Shop, Ann Arbor, MI, in 2005.

Robert was an excellent woodworking craftsman making everything from a small trinket box to a beautiful piece of furniture. He also enjoyed gardening, remolding his homes and spending time with his family. Robert is survived by his daughters, Vicki (Fred) Bobo and Jill Barnes, grandchildren, Heather (David) Maynard and Shannon Bobo, and his great-grandson Gage Maynard.

He is preceded in death by his wife Louise Barnes, parents Arthur and Gertrude Barnes, and his dog Barney. Contributions in honor of Robert Barnes may be made to St. Joseph Mercy Hospice at www. trinityhealthathome.org/donate or the Huron Humane Society at hshv.org.
