Obituary for Barbara Cox Barbara Freeman Cox, 84, of Moore, peacefully passed away, November 8, 2018, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born March 15, 1934 in Spartanburg, SC. The daughter of the late Palmer Leland and Bonnie Blackwell Freeman, Barbara graduated from District 5 High School in 1952, which would later become James F. Byrnes High School.

A Certified Professional Secretary, Barbara retired, after a long career, from Fluor in 1999. She married Carroll Cox on July 19, 1952 and they have been happily married for 66 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a founding member of Reidville Road United Methodist Church.

Barbara is survived by her husband Carroll; daughter, Sandra Barger (Steve); son, Kevin Cox; grandchildren, Jennifer Barger (Warren Musselman) and Amy Barger (Johnathon Franklin); great-grandson, Aidan Mitchell; great-granddaughter, Emma Claire Franklin; brother, Samuel Hugh Freeman of Alexandria, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at Reidville Road United Methodist Church, Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 2:30 PM, conducted by Reverend Danny Wiley. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be at Poplar Springs Baptist Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Reidville Road UMC Building Fund, 5575 Reidville Road, Moore, SC 29369 Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
