OBITUARY Barbara (Doering) Healy April 22, 1924 – September 14, 2018 Barbara (Doering) Healy, age 94, of East Peoria, passed Friday, Sep. 14, 2018 at 9:48 a.m. at Heartland Health Care in Peoria. She was born April 22, 1924 in East Peoria to William H. and Margaret (Bachman) Doering.

She married Dr. James H. Healy on May 3, 1947 in East Peoria. He passed July 13, 2004 in East Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Laura Haydary.

Survivors include one sister, Sara Doering-Hauter of San Jose, IL, five nephews, and one niece. Barbara earned a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Illinois. At Illinois she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and was the editor of the sorority magazine.

Following college she was a journalist for several newspapers in the area. She was a member of the East Peoria First United Methodist Church, Red Hat Society, Youth Director for Tazewell County 4-H, and also had her pilot license. Barbara and Jim were the founding members of the East Peoria Historical Society.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Sep. 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.

Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Memorials may be made to her church or the East Peoria Historical society.
