Barbara J. Podgorski, age 79, of Toledo, passed away on September 5, 2018. She was born on January 20, 1939 to Walter and Catherine (Augustyniak) Szmania in Toledo. Barb worked in the payroll department for Textile Leather.

She was an avid Cleveland Indians and Pittsburg Steelers fan. Barb enjoyed polka dancing, gardening, gambling, and cooking …she especially was known for her meatballs and cheesecake. Barb was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward; brother, Clemence Szmania, son-in-law, Rick Woods and brothers-in-law, Ronald and Robert Podgorski.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Anita Woods, Rebecca (Joe White) Podgorski, Lisa (Roscoe) Jones, Edward Jr. (Nancy) Podgorski of Wyoming, and Kevin Podgorski (Luis Garcia) of New York; sisters, Rosalie Sneider and Beatrice (David) Wolfe; sister-in-law, Roberta Szmania; brother-in-law Daniel (Bonnie) Podgorski; step-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Bradley Woods; her many beloved ‘grand’ dogs; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may visit on Monday from 2-8:00 p.m., with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 with prayer services in the mortuary at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at St. Hyacinth Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
