October 23, 1941 – February 23, 2019 Barbara Jean Patterson, 77, of Gurley, AL left this earth on Feb. 23, 2019. She passed at Huntsville Hospital from a heart blockage with her husband of 59 years, Douglas Patterson by her side.

She is survived by a daughter, Britta Bowman (Tim), son, Bran Patterson (Cindy), and two grandsons, Cody Patterson and Chase Bowman. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Gertie Gilbreath. Born in Madison County, AL Barbara attended Butler High School and Auburn University.

She also lived in Illinois, Gainesville, FL, Blacksburg, VA, and Montgomery, AL. She grew up attending West Huntsville Church of Christ and was a life long member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Patterson enjoyed her neighbors dogs, finding bargains, collecting antiques (cookie jars and glass paperweights), watching foxes, deer and humming birds.

She spent endless hours keeping her home clean and orderly. Visitation and service will be Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home with Keith Hodges officiating.

Followed by fellowship meal with friends and family at Hampton Cove Church of Christ, 409 Old Big Cove Road, Brownsboro, AL 35741. Burial at 3:00 PM at Huntsville Memory Gardens 6810 University Drive N.W. Huntsville, AL www.
