Slaughter, a Retired School Teacher, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at West Jefferson Hospital at the age of 93. A native of Winnsboro, Louisiana; Barbara was a resident of New Orleans for the majority of her life. A true believer, Barbara served on the Deaconess Board at St. John Divine Baptist Church.

Previous to her membership at St. John, Barbara was a former member of Central Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, a faithful choir members and on the Deaconess Board for over 40 years. Due to health reason, Barbara could not attend church as much as she desired, so she attend service at the Outreach Ministry of Wynhoven, where she was a resident. A Graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in Education, she taught on for 40 years at Holy Redeemer High School and Corpus Christi Catholic School.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Samuel Jackson and Fayetta Bell Jackson; devoted wife of the late Warren Slaughter and loving mother of the late Lavan Slaughter. Barbara is survived by a host of family, friends and Church Members. Relatives and friends of the family, also, Pastors, Officers and Members of St. John Divine MBC, Central MBC and New Testament BC an all neighboring Churches are all invited to attend the Funeral Service at St. John Divine MBC 1763 N. Derbigny Street NOLA on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. Rev.

Kenneth Speaks, Pastor and Officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M. Interment: Providence Park Cemetery, Metairie, La.
