Bartolomeo “Barto” Ferrara, 90, of Monessen, passed away on Wednesday Oct. 24, 2018 with his family at his side in Hallsworth House. He was born on September 29, 1928 in Monessen, the son of the late Enrico and Elgisa (Sarocco) Ferrara.

Barto was life long resident of Monessen and a 1947 graduate of Monessen High School. Barto owned and operated Barts Tire and Auto Service Center in Monessen for the past 68 years. He was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Church and its Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus Council 954 and Monessen Lions Club, where he was Past President, Lion of the Year, and a Melvin Jones Fellow.

He was a former member of the St. Cajetan Bowling League, Monessen Elks 773, and Italian Society of Mutual Aid. Surviving are his wife of 61 years Rosemary (Perry) Ferrara, his son Bart L. (Dianna) Ferrara; three grandchildren, Brianna (Sean Holmes) Ferrara, Bartolomeo Daunte Ferrara, and Stephen Jarabeck; brother, Gino (Shirley) Ferrara, three sisters, Jenny, Connie, and Silvia, and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Patty Ayers and a brother Albert Ferrara.

Friends will be received on Friday Oct. 26, 2018 from 1 pm to 3 pm and from 6 pm to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held on Saturday beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church 44 Pennsylvania Blvd.

Monessen, with Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Entombment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum, Monessen.

The following services will be conducted on Friday evening in the funeral home: Monessen Lions Club at 6 pm, Knights of Columbus at 7 pm.
