Obituary for Bernadette Rose Clifford (Eagle Elk) Bernadette Rose Clifford was born on November 29, 1943 in Pine Ridge, SD to Alexander Eagle Elk and Jenny (War Bonnette) Eagle Elk. Bernadette made her journey to the Spirit World on January 8, 2019 at the I.H.S. Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD. Bernadette worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Pine Ridge, SD, for several years.

She also worked at the Pine Ridge High School Dormitory as a Matron. She retired from the dorm in 2006. Bernadette will always be remembered for her kind, loving heart and her generosity.

She loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed. Bernadette is survived by her children, Julie Black of Las Vegas, NV, Marsha Clifford, and Michelle (Corwin) Clifford-Bagola, both of Pine Ridge, SD; brothers, Robert Eagle Elk, Sr. of Pine Ridge, SD and Donald “Red” (Antoinette) Eagle Elk of Aberdeen, SD; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters.

Bernadette was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Jenny (War Bonnett) Eagle Elk; husband, Daniel Clifford, Jr.; sons, Michael Paul Steinbrink and Raymond “George” Clifford; hunka sister, Caroline Packard; and brothers, Morris, Earl and Raymond “Owen” Eagle Elk. Pallbearers will be: Darwin Eagle Elk, Carlos Eagle Elk, Marvin Ghost Bear, Jr., Corwin Bagola, Sr., Darren Bad Heart Bull, Heath Runs Against, Cody Iron Cloud and Steven Yellow Boy.
