Obituary for BERNICE ARLENE ANDERSON (St. Onge) Bernice Arlene Anderson, 88, of Negaunee Township, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, November 27, 2018 at the Eastwood Nursing Center. Bernice was born September 20, 1930 in Munising to Russell and Edna (Carpenter) St. Onge and grew up in Skandia Township. She attended Marquette Schools and later earned her GED.

Bernice was employed as a dietician at the Marquette Branch Prison and also at the Acocks Medical Facility. She also worked in her younger years as a butcher for the Miracle Market in Marquette. Mrs. Anderson was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, Marquette.

In her free time, she enjoyed playing cribbage, working in the yard and gardening, and most of all, spending time with family. Surviving are her loving husband, Clyde “Tiny” Anderson; two sons: Clyde Eugene (Melissa) Anderson of Gwinn and Kevin (Jacquelyn) Anderson of Greenville, South Carolina; a daughter and son-in-law; four grandchildren: Abbey and Corey Anderson, and Haley and Alicia Anderson; two sisters: Marilyn Kramer of Texas and Joyce (Mike) Kaleel of Sterling Heights; her brother, Carl (Lois) St. Onge of Skandia; and numerous special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Pauline; and six brothers: Eugene, Russell, Wallace, Donald, Alvin and Arnold.

Bernice’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Eastwood Nursing Center, especially the East wing, and also to UP Home Health and Hospice, for their compassionate care provided. And a special thanks to Marilee Burdick for being a wonderful friend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the spring with the date and time to be announced by the Koskey Funeral Home.
