Bernice Mozingo Nickens, 91, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Bernice was born in Goldsboro on March 10, 1928 to the late Fred Mozingo and Sudie Ward Mozingo. She was married to the late Russell Cobb Nickens.

Bernice worked for twenty years as a secretary at Tanglewood Elementary School in Lumberton. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and support for the people she cared about. Her enthusiasm and charm will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A service to celebrate Bernice’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2019 in the mausoleum chapel of Wayne Memorial Park. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. Bernice is survived by her daughter, Beverly Nickens Marley and husband Morris of Winston-Salem; son, Larry Nickens of Morehead City; grandchildren, Sarah Nickens Williams and husband Gray and Jason Marley and wife Elizabeth; and great-grandchildren, Chandler Marley, Bradley Williams and Jackson Williams.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Gail Nickens. The family requests no flowers and memorials be given to the Capital Campaign at First United Methodist Church, 900 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.
