Bertis Edward “Ed” Long, 94 of Terre Haute passed away at Indiana University Health North in Indianapolis on June 22, 2018. He was born November 13, 1923 in Terre Haute to Bertis Elba Long and Lela Maink Long. Ed served his country in the United States Army during WWII and retired after 30 years of service from the U.S. Post Office as a letter carrier.

Ed was a lifelong member of Breden Memorial United Methodist Church where he was very active and held many positions. He also belonged to the National Association of Letter Carriers for over 50 years. He loved to read and go camping, but most of all Ed loved spending time with his family.

Ed is survived by his wife, Margaret (Madigan) Long whom he married July 26, 1953, son Michael Edward Long (Maryann), daughters; Mary Louise Branch (Anthony) and Sharon Lynn Clark (Jeff), grandchildren; Anna (Brad), Jessica, Christopher, Steven, Melissa (Ivan), Angela (Chris), Jennifer, Mistianne, Nicholas (Julie), and Joshua, twelve great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren and sister Edna Mae Fuson, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and five sisters. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel with services to follow at the funeral home.

Pastor Dan Eckart and Pastor Paul Myers will officiate. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Breden Memorial United Methodist Church.
