Betty (Hurst) Daily, formerly Betty West, passed away July 15, 2018, with her family at her bedside. Born October 8, 1942 in Townsend, Montana to Russell and Bertie Hurst, Betty was raised by her Aunt Nell Walter, due to the untimely death of her mother. She enjoyed her time with Aunt Nell and her uncles on their family ranch.

Later in life, Betty married Jim West, and they had five children before divorcing. Betty eventually met and married Robert Daily. Betty intensely cared… Read More » about her jobs throughout the years.

This included work at Mathis Food Farm, the Spa Motel, and at Mountain View Medical Center as first a CNA, and then later as the Activities Director. She is remembered fondly there for the holiday festivities she threw for all the major holidays, as well as her care for the residents that passed through the doors. She loved organizing the annual Easter egg hunt for the community’s youth, as well as Christmas parties and various celebrations to make the holidays more special for all the residents who call Mountain View home.

Betty was involved in many organizations throughout the years, including the Lioness Club and Eastern Star, and she was an avid Hornets fan. If you heard someone hammering their horn at a football game, odds are you’d see Betty there behind the wheel cheering the kids on. She enjoyed toodling around on rides, watching her Westerns, hunting for rocks up in the hills, putting together jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and Yahtzee, gardening, and going garage saling, sometimes showing up “a little early” to make sure she found the best stuff.

Grandma also loved her many furry companions through the years, as well as the yearly winged visitors to her bird feeders. Mom (or Grandma Betty) is survived by her brother Ray, sisters Dorothy, Donna, Nell, Althea, and Barb; her children Clint (Karen), Kay (Matthew), John (Cheryl), Brad (Anita), and Jerami (Liv); her grandchildren Cameron (Stinky Butt), Ryan (Stink Two), Christie (Krysco), Scottie (Scooter), Brittany (Brit), Derrick (D), Tyler (Ty-Ty), Whitley (Whitters), Signe (Siggie), and Caden (Cader); and her great-granchildren Max, Bridger, Mason, and Olivia; and her extended family, including Garry and Linda Bears and the SIbleys. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Mountain View Community Church in White Sulphur Springs, with the burial afterward at Mayn Cemetery.

A coffee hour will be held after the services at the Senior Center. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Mountain View Community Church’s Vacation Bible School. Betty adored this community, but above all else, she loved her family.

In the hours leading up to her death, Betty was able to cradle her newborn great-granddaughter Olivia before deciding to head on to heaven. She will be loved and missed like no other.
