OBITUARY Betty Ellen Haxton July 7, 1923 – October 17, 2018 Betty Ellen Haxton Betty Ellen Haxton was born in Lansing, Michigan on July 7, 1923 and passed away on October 17, 2018 at the John Knox Village Hospice House in Lee’s Summit, MO. Betty Ellen grew up in Hays, KS and graduated from Fort Hays State College with a Bachelor of Science in Education in Home Economics. She married her husband, Warren D. Haxton on August 4, 1945.

Warren and Betty Ellen moved to Raytown, Missouri in 1951 where they began their teaching careers in the Raytown School District. Betty Ellen taught Home Economics for 26 years before retiring and enjoying a 10 year work experience in the summers at Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park. Betty Ellen was involved in Delta Kappa Gamma, Charter member of P.E.O., Chapter IY in Raytown, and the Greater KC Home Economics Educator Association.

In her later years, Betty Ellen enjoyed her time at John Knox Village, where she lived for the past 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren and their son, Charles (Chuck) Haxton. She is survived by her son, Clinton (Andy) Haxton, wife , Rita and grandson Kyle; her daughter, Harriet Haxton Halterman, husband, Jim, grandson Ryan, wife Jessica and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at DW Newcomers Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd at 1 pm on Friday, October 19, 2018 with a “Celebration of Life” service at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be directed to the John Knox Village Foundation-Hospice or the Raytown Educational Foundation.
