NAOMI VICTORIA DUNN CARTER Naomi V. Dunn was born to John and Walsie Dunn on December 22, 1925, the eighth of nine children, in Kansas City, Missouri. She later moved to Kansas City, Kansas, where she graduated from Sumner High School. Both parents, and all of her siblings preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death her special friends, JoAnne Moore and Gussie M. Snyder. She married Everett (Big Boy) L. Carter, and from this union thirteen children were born. He preceded her in death along with five of their children.

She united with Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in 1970 under the leadership of the late Pastor, Reverend Emanuel A. Johnson, and continued her membership under the current Pastor, Reverend Donald W. Givens, until her health would no longer permit her to attend. She was a longtime member of the Inspirational Choir and Mass Choir.

She was a member of the Women’s Class I Sunday School Class. She read her bible every day. She was employed at Truman Medical Center as a Unit Secretary and retired in 1990.

Everyone that knew her, knew she could throw down in the kitchen, with specialties including her famous peach cobbler, sweet potato pies, lemon cake and her slap-yo-momma soul food. She enjoyed crocheting, arts and crafts, and was known for having the Plaza Lights on 39th Street at Christmas time. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan and she loved her dogs, Yoko, Ito and BraRoc.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughters, Carrie E. Edward, Patricia Lunn, Marqueta D. Charles (Julius), all of Kansas City, MO and Rhonda R. (Richard) Sneed of Cleveland, OH; her sons, Darry E. Carter, Lee’s Summit, MO, Warren E. Carter (Eyvette), Raytown, MO, Michael A. Carter, Reginald L. Carter (Myra), and Dorzell King all of Kansas City, MO. She also leaves her special daughters, Margaret Riley, Ellyse Collins, Michelle “Whiite-Girl” Thomas and Gwen Johnson and special friends, Teresa Williams, Alma Marshall, Bertha “Suga” Morris; a special grandson, Lavell Whitaker and a host of grandchildren, including great and great-great grandchildren and other family members and friends. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Mt.

Vernon Missionary Baptist Church 3935 Prospect Avenue KCMO. Visitation 9:00 a.m. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery.
