Obituary for Betty Jane (Cochran) Skidmore Betty Jane Cochran Skidmore, 89, of Madison, WV passed away peacefully May 5, 2018. She was born September 10, 1928 in Diana, WV to the late Robert and Bertha Carpenter Cochran of Webster Springs, WV. She worked as a hairdresser briefly after graduating Webster High School.

Her remaining years were spent as a loving mother and homemaker. She was a 50 plus year member of Madison Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth John Skidmore of 51 years; and her brother Robert L. Cochran, his wife Carolyn and their daughter Lori all of Elkins, WV.

She is survived by her children, John (Wanda) Skidmore of Huntington, WV, Joyce (David) Birley of Madison, WV and James (Teresa) Skidmore of Madison, WV; her grandchildren, Andrew (Ashley) Skidmore of Ashland, KY, Angela Skidmore of Huntington, WV and Sydney Birley of Madison, WV, also Dustin and Danielle of Madison, WV; and a special companion pet Madison. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in the town of Richwood, WV with Pastor James Butcher of Madison Baptist Church will be officiating the service.
