Obituary for Harold Eugene Abbott Harold Eugene Abbott, of Madison, WV, passed away June 21, 2018. He was born August 13, 1938 and raised in Van, WV to Herman and Marjorie Abbott. Harold graduated from Van High School.

He then served his country by joining the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Korea after the Korean Conflict. He worked as a UMWA coal miner for more than 25 years. Harold was an active member of the Odd Fellows Lodge I.O.O.F.

Boone 170 for more than 40 years, and member of the Grand Lodge of West Virginia. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5578, and the American Legion Post 0087. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Evelyn; son John (Jennifer); mother Marjorie Abbott; sister Cora Lee Jarrell; brothers Gary, Laurence, Paul D, J. Louie, Grandchildren John Paul Abbott, Sarah Blosser (Jacob) and great-grandson Cooper, and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 25 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville with Tex Frye officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Harold Eugene Abbott please visit our Sympathy Store.
