Betty Jean Ensign, 83, of Mahomet died on the morning of Saturday, July 21 at Farmer City Nursing and Rehabilitation. There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, July 24 at 11 am at Blair-Owens Funeral Home, 102 E. Dunbar, Mahomet. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service (10-11am) at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Ingram Cemetery, White Heath. Betty was born on Sept 24, 1934 in Mahomet, a daughter of Vern and Ethel Pointer. She married Leo Ensign in Covington, IN on July 7, 1951.

He survives and resides in Mahomet. Other survivors include 6 children, Cindy (Mike) Cummins of Maineville, OH, Donna Ensign of Mahomet, Bob (Carol) Ensign of Urbana, Dennis Ensign of Mahomet, Gail Ensign of LA and Roger (Melissa) Ensign of Roseville, MI; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and 1 sister, Lois Pointer of Champaign. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Betty was a member of First Baptist Church of Savoy. When she wasn’t busy caring for her family, she donated her time to Meals on Wheels.
