Betty L. Streu, 97, of Logansport, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018 in her residence. Born on November 1, 1920 in Cass County, Indiana, she was the daughter to the late Fred and Minnie (Wenninger) Lewis. On January 13, 1940 in Royal Center, Indiana she married Charles F. Streu who preceded in death on September 9, 2012.

In 1951 Betty along with her husband Charlie, started a grocery store and filling station at the end of Michigan Avenue. The business was called Char-Bett Food Shop. The business flourished and out grew the building and in 1958 they decided to start a drive inn, which later became known as Char-Bett Drive Inn.

They owned and operated that business until 1978. Betty was a member of Cross Wind United Methodist Church. Surviving her are two daughters, Kay (Wayne) Thomas, Logansport; Judy A. Follmar, Taos, New Mexico; son, Charles (Leslie) Streu, Chandler, AZ; brother, Albert (Lucille) Lewis, Hot Springs Village, AK; three sisters, Emily Morin Dyck; Donna Chidalek, both of Logansport; Ruth Leverett, Noblesville; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Fred Streu; a daughter, Carolyn Streu; a brother, Joseph Lewis; and a sister, Mary Lewis. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 30, 2018 in the Cross Wind United Methodist Church with Pastor Nick Robinson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
