Betty Lou LaPorte, 82, of Lapeer, died Monday March 11, 2019 surrounded by family, after a lengthy struggle since January. She was born November 1, 1936 in Des Moines, IA to parents Elmer and Hazel (Hilliker) Dyer. Betty married Walter LaPorte on August 25, 1987 in Lapeer.

Mrs. LaPorte enjoyed her yard work, going to Florida and working on her farm. She spent a lot of time flying and involved with Michigan Ultra Light Association; a great group of friends. More than everything, Betty was a loving mother and grandmother.

Her family will sorely miss her. She is survived by children: Chris (Bob) Novak of Lapeer; Cindy Woodward of Lapeer; Dennis (Polly) Lojewski of Sharpsburg, KY; Dave Lojewski of Lapeer, grandchildren: Anthony; Rebecca; Kenny; Cayanne; Jerry; Jesse; David, 13 great-grandchildren, sister: Gloria Smith, many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Mrs. LaPorte was preceded in death by her 1st husband: Joseph Lojewski, 2nd husband: Walter LaPorte, granddaughter: Renee Woodward, siblings: Bill Dyer; Delores Heltsley as well as her parents.

Betty’s visitation will be 4-8pm Tuesday, 1-4pm/6-8pm Wednesday at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Her funeral will be 11:00am Thursday March 14, 2019 at Muirs. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Oxford Twp.
