Beverly’s Obituary Beverly B. LaBrant Ms. Beverly B. LaBrant passed quietly in the company of her family on Wednesday afternoon, January 23rd in Lafayette, Indiana. She was 87 years old. Ms. LaBrant was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on August 6th, 1931 to Howard and Loyce Broadbent.

She graduated from Will Rodgers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma and held multiple degrees from the University of Kentucky, the University of Alabama, and Purdue University. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and her academic specialties were Audiology and Special Education. Ms. LaBrant was the owner of The Paperworks, a card and gift shop in Indianapolis, for over thirty years.

She greatly enjoyed traveling and outdoor activities, particularly camping and downriver canoe and kayak racing. She was a founding member of the United States Canoe Association and the first editor of the USCA newsletter. She enjoyed reading and genealogy as hobbies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Hunt, and her second husband Howie LaBrant. She is survived by her first husband Robert Stwalley (Jr); their children, Robert (III), Thomas, and Russell; their spouses, Carol and Laura; and her grandchildren, Kathryn, Robert (IV), Elizabeth, Daniel, and Reed. A celebration of life service for Ms. LaBrant will be held later this spring.

The family asks that, instead of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
