Billy Carrol Cornelius, 81 years of age, of Poetry went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 in Terrell, Texas. Funeral services celebrating Billy’s life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Ingram Funeral Home. Interment will be immediately following at Campground Cemetery in Poetry.

Billy was born on March 16, 1937 in Spaulding, Oklahoma. He is the son of the late Bass Cornelius and Emma Elizabeth Shores Cornelius. He was raised in Tatum, New Mexico where he graduated from Tatum High School in Tatum, New Mexico where he played on the high school basketball and football teams and was active in the FFA.

He and his wife Lois raised ten children in Duncanville, Texas, Junction City, Kansas, and Midlothian, Texas, before settling in Poetry, Texas, where they lived for 43 years. He owned his own business as a cabinet maker for 50 years where he mentored future business partners, one of which turned into not only a business associate, but also a very close friend, who was more like a son; Tim Brown. He was considered the number one cabinet maker/installer for the Dallas / Fort Worth area in the 90’s.

Billy was proceeded in death by his wife, Lois Rae Willis, his son, Buck Cornelius and his granddaughter, Ashley Lois, grandsons, Tim Brown, Jr., Brian Casey Yudizky, and T. J. Yudizky. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, wooden toy making, and farming. He will be dearly missed by brother Doug Cornelius; sister Nina Lou McMillan; his daughters: Beth Hensley and her husband Luther; Shiree Johnson and her husband Burl; Denise Null and her husband Allen; Denise Moore and her husband Darryl, Pam Lois and her husband Richard; and Suzanne Armstrong and her husband Charles; and son, Roger McCracken and his wife Pam: 19 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

He will now be carried home by Luther Hensley, son-in-law; Charles Armstrong, son-in-law; Suzanne Armstrong, daughter; and family friend Rick Neighbors; and Drew Brown, another very close friend. Billy was one of the most amazing dads this world has ever seen and we were blessed to have him as ours.
