Billy Henry Leonard, age 73 of Chadbourn, peacefully went to be with his Lord on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was born on December 27, 1944 in Robeson County to the late Minnie Gertrude Milligan Leonard and James Walter Leonard. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by five siblings, Ethel Norris, Bobby Mills, Jesse Leonard, Carlton Leonard and Janice Patterson.

Until his retirement in 2008, Billy was employed as an electrician by BE&K Construction of 30 years. Billy also served on the Klondyke-Chadbourn Fire and Rescue Department for 48 years. He is survived by his wife, Betty House Leonard, four daughters, Sheila L. Batten (Mike) of Chadbourn, Billie Jo Gleasner (Steve) of Evergreen, Crystal L. McPherson of Whiteville and Nekita L. Simmons of Shallotte; a sister, Ruth L. Duncan of Chadbourn; six grandchildren, Kim Glaesner, Jason White (Charlesanna), Nicholas Batten (Amelia), Michaela Batten (David), PFC Kendal Glaesner and Mackenzie Simmons; three great-grandchildren, Isaac Worley, Zachary Batten and Lethan White.

Final rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Jonathan Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
