Billy Ray Hinesley, age 76, of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, April 19, 2018 at his daughter’s home in Broadway. He was born in Moore County, NC on July 2, 1941 to the late Willie Ted Hinesley and Josie Mae Campbell Hinesley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ann Poe Hinesley; grandson Brandon Phillips; siblings Dorothy Thompson, Willie Ted Hinesley Jr., Betty Boyd, Peggy Faulkner, Ralph Hinesley, Ruby Davis and Jerry Hinesley.

He is survived by three daughters Tammy Phillips and husband Paul of Broadway, Crystal Starr and husband Dale of Cameron, Jolynda Adcock of Sanford; siblings Lois Comer of Vass, Maxine Rogers of Carthage, Suzine Dodd and husband Bobby of Bowling Green, KY, Carolyn Lazzaro and husband Joe of Upper Chichester, PA, Linda Brown and husband Richard of Robbins, and Dale Howell of Pinehurst; grandchildren Kimrey Phillips, Karie Starr, Anaston Starr, and Camden Adcock. Billy served our country in the United States Army and was a member of the VFW. He retired as a Master Technician, after 43 years of service, for Wilkinson Cadillac Chevrolet Buick GMC.

Billy was a fan of NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Funeral service will be Monday, April 23, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Yow and Rev. Tony Hancox officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. in the fellowship hall of the church and at other times at the home of Tammy and Paul Phillips. Burial will follow at Cool Springs Methodist Church cemetery in Glendon.

Employees of Wilkinson Cadillac are asked to sit as a group at Holly Springs Baptist Church during the funeral service. Memorials may be made to Relay for Life or Community Home Care & Hospice.
