Obituary for Bonita “Bonnie” J. Nagra Passed away peacefully at her residence with her family by her side, Wednesday, November 7, 2018. Age 93 years Survived by her son Gary L. (Mary Jo Wallace) Nagra, her granddaughter Tuesday (Brian) Powers, two grandchildren Tyler and Conor Powers. Her sister Nancy Moran of Medford, OR and sister-in-law Vaneta Moran.

Preceded in death her beloved husband of 67 years Peter V. Nagra (2012), son David E. Nagra (2017), two brothers Delose “Dick” Moran and Thomas Moran, a sister Dolores Moran. Her parents Michael and Clara Moran. Bonnie was born March 20, 1925 in Morris, IL.

She graduated from Kinsman High School Class of 1941 and St. Angela’s Academy in Morris in 1942. Bonnie was awarded a scholarship to St. Mary College at Notre Dame, IN. Bonnie worked at the Navy Yards in Rockdale where she met the love of her life and future husband Peter Nagra.

Bonnie and Peter were married September 16, 1945 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Joliet. Her and Peter lived in a trailer while they built their family home together, accounting for every piece of lumber and expense. Bonnie retired from Joliet Public Grade School in May 1992.

She was a Teacher’s Assistant in the TMH program at Rehn Grade School and later Marycrest Grade School. Bonnie was honored as Teacher Assistant of the Year in 1979 for her passion and dedication of working with special needs children. Bonnie was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale.
