Obituary of Bonnie Sue Meredith Childers Graveside services for Bonnie Sue Meredith Childers, age 82, of Columbia will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Columbia Hill Cemetery with Eugene Dunn officiating. Services are under the direction of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia. Sue was born April 23, 1936 to the union of Willard and Alpha Meredith in Columbia and she passed from this life on July 24, 2018 at Ouachita Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Monroe.

Sue graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. After working with the New Orleans Department of Welfare, she returned to Columbia and married Roy Max Childers. Sue later became the Librarian at Caldwell Parish Library.

She was a voracious reader and enjoyed selecting books her community would enjoy. She loved to learn and was a supporter of Louisiana Public Broadcasting. Her failing health in recent years may have slowed her physically, but never slowed her love of learning.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Roy Max Childers; son: Bob Meredith Childers; her parents: Willard and Alpha Meredith. She is survived by her daughter: Christy Childers and her husband Reggie Watson of Sterlington; four grandchildren: Abby Mills, Rebekah DeMoss, Sarah Childers, and Reed Watson; four great-grandchildren. Any planned memorials may be made to the Caldwell Parish Library.
