Brona L. Williams, 95, of Yorktown, Indiana passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 at her home in Yorktown. Brona was born on March 21, 1923 in Delaware County, Indiana to the late Kenneth Earl and Gladys L. (Hensley) Manring. She graduated from Yorktown High School in 1942.

Brona was a pharmacy technician for Hook’s Drug Store for 23 years before retiring in 1988. She was a member and past president of the Neighborhood Home-Ec Club and won many awards and ribbons for her needlework and other showings over the years at the Delaware County Fair. Brona was also a volunteer at Ball Memorial Hospital where she recently received her 5 year pin and logged over 6,000 volunteer hours.

Brona enjoyed quilting, sewing, canning, baking, and traveling. Brona is survived by three children, Larry Williams of Muncie; Marilyn Fite (husband Walt) of Grand Junction, CO; and Martha Whitinger of Wauseon, OH; a brother, Donald Manring of Alexandria; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Brona was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Charles W. Williams; a brother, Roland Manring; a sister, Nancy Johnson and a grandchild.

A funeral service to celebrate Brona’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Pastor Norma West will officiate. Burial will follow in Sutherland Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday, May 4, 2018 and one hour prior to her service on Saturday at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to the Yorktown Public Library, 8920 W. Adaline St., Yorktown, IN 47396. The Gant and Miller families are honored to celebrate Brona’s life with her family and community.
