C. Neil Carnes Age 84, of Waynesburg, passed away Sunday Dec. 23, 2018. He was born Oct.

16, 1934 in Sandyville, a son of the late Claud and Bernice (McCreery) Miller Carnes, and was a life resident of the Sandy Valley area. Neil was a 1952 graduate of East Sparta High School. He retired in 1996 from The Timken Co. after 32 years service, where he worked in the Bearing Factory.

Neil was a member of the NRA, the NBHA, and loved riding his horses. He was a true cowboy. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-59.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Chuck, Bob, and Cleo “Sonny” Miller, and Ronnie Carnes. Neil is survived by his wife, Hilda S. Carnes, with whom he celebrated their 30th Wedding Anniversary on April 15th; four daughters, Tammy (Chris) Nickolas, Lorie (Bill) Leidner, Holly Barker, and Kim Rehfus; two sons, Jeff Carnes and Eric Carnes, a step-son, Robert (Carrie) Schneider; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandsons; three sisters and two brothers, Gloria Charton, Karen (Don) Fedder, Maureen “Tiny” (Jack) Ott, Vance (Sandra) Carnes, and Darrell (Bonnie) Carnes; a sister-in-law, Sharon Macway; and 10 nieces and 19 nephews. Services will be held Sat.

at 3 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Clifford Hughes officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville.
