Carl’s Obituary Carl R. ‘Cotton’ Hight, age 82, Joplin, passed away at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at his residence after a sudden illness. Carl was born August 17, 1936 in Joplin to the late Carl Hight and Verna Divine Hight and had lived in Joplin most of his life. He worked at Eagle Picher, Industries for over forty years, retiring in 1998.

During that time, he and his wife, Irine, owned and operated Cotton and Irine’s Lounge in Joplin for ten years. In his spare time, Carl enjoyed woodworking, fishing and his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Carl is survived by his wife, Irine; his first wife and mother of his children, Phyllis Hight, Joplin; children, Ron Hight and wife, Melanie, Joplin, Lanny Hight and wife, Tammy, Neosho, Cynthia Lea and husband, David, Monett; David Slankard, Joplin, Paul Slankard and wife, Jill, Seneca; one brother, Rick Hight and wife, Nancy, Joplin; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and many other extended family members and friends. Memorial services are being planned for a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
