Mildred (Marie)’s Obituary Mildred Marie Brown, age 91, Joplin, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019 at a local nursing center after an illness. Marie was born on May 22, 1927 in Mackville, Kentucky to the late John C. Skeans and Ethel Marie Lester and had lived in Joplin since 1963, moving from Danville, Kentucky. Marie married Gene F. Brown on June 1, 1972 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

She worked as a hostess for Henry’s Fine Food for 17 years and served as a hostess and cashier at the former Mickey Mantle Holiday Inn and Bob Miller Cafe. Marie was a charter member of Racine Christian Church and was a member of Villa Heights Christian Church. She was a long time member of Temple Chapter #95, Order of Eastern Star.

Marie loved to sew and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by a sister, Juanema Wilson and a brother, Lorne Skeans. Survivors include a son, Lorne Dale Noland and wife, Norma, Buena Vista, Colorado; brother, Walton J. Skeans, Arkansas; grandchildren, Tina Marie Vosberg, Norma Jean Brown, Lorne Matthew Noland; ten great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.

Services are planned for Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Villa Heights Christian Church. Truman Brady, minister, will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Villa Heights Christian Church, in care of Parker Mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
