Carl Sampy Williams of Dublin, GA died at Serenity Place on Friday, June 1, 2018. Mr. Williams was born on February 21, 1923 in Georgetown, SC to John Henry and Olivia Lawrimore Williams. He is survived by his children: Bruce Williams and his wife Cathy of Shellman Bluff, GA and Jan Jones of Winston-Salem, NC; his grandchildren, Patrick Williams and his wife Laura of Manheim, PA and Mary Ruth Kester and her husband Robert of High Point, NC; his great grandchildren, Seth Embley, Evie Williams and Maya Williams of Manheim, PA and Nora Rose Kester and Robert L. “Buddy” Kester, III of High Point, NC.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Mavis Hodges Williams, his son John Williams, his son-in-law Burton Jones and his grandson Trey Jones. Mr. Williams graduated from Winyah High School in Georgetown, SC. He served in the US Coast Guard during WWII as a Motor Machinist Mate.

He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1950 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Mr. Williams retired from JP Stevens/Forstmann as Divisional Engineer. Mr. Williams was a member of Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church where he was very active and held various leadership positions.

He also served as the Moderator of the Savannah Presbytery, Chair of the Environmental Committee and served on the Savannah Presbytery Council. Mr. Williams was a loyal supporter of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 4, 2018 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 noon at Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM at the church with burial to follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Joe Hooks, Paul Riddle, Charles Lang, Ben Hall, Jr., Joe Uliano, Gene Pricer, Bob Alexander, John Shepherd and Emory Lake. The family would like to thank the staff of Addington Place, Fairview Park Hospital, Home Instead and Serenity Place for the care and personal attention Mr. Williams received.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the John Williams Scholarship Fund, c/o Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church, 511 Bellevue Avenue, Dublin, GA 31021. “Well done, good and faithful servant…” Mathew 25:21.
