MANTUA Carlton ( Buss ) Resh, 84 years of age, passed away Monday February 18, 2019 at University Hospital- Portage Medical Center in Ravenna surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 23, 1934 in Grantsville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Earl and Oma ( Platter) Resh. A resident of Mantua since 1959, Mr. Resh drove truck for Commercial Motor Freight in Cleveland retiring in 1985 after 33 years of service.

He loved horseshoes, corn hole, hunting, and pulling a team of ponies. He traveled to many states for pony pulling competitions including OH,PA,MD,WV,and NY. He worked on several local farms after retirement including Burkes and Balentine’s.

Buss also loved to have friends and family over to enjoy drinks, and stories around the table where everyone always felt welcome. Many local people will remember him exercising his team of ponies around the local roads and fields until he suffered a stroke in 2013. He was preceded in death by his sisters Freda, Mabel, Blanche, Gladys, Thelma, Iva “Jack”, brothers Ray, Charles, Richard, and daughter-in-law Debbie Resh.

On August 31, 1954, he married his beloved wife Esther who survives at home. Also surviving are his sons David Resh and Brian (Terri) Resh both of Mantua; brothers Ralph of Clearville, PA, Pete (Helen) of Grantsville, MD and Guy ( Louise) of Mantua; grandchildren Elizabeth (Don) Smart of Streetsboro, John (Mandy) Resh of Newcomerstown, Amanda (Andy) Simms of Keokuk, IA, Gregory (Emily) Resh of Ostrander,OH,Kevin Savitts of OH; great-grandchildren Amber and Autumn Schauer, Chance Richard, Bryer, Olivia, Sawyer Resh, and Avery and Addelyn Simms and Jacob Lilley. No calling hours.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 2, 2019 from 2:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. at the Mantua Center School. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua where condolences and memories may be viewed at www.
