Bennettsville, SC Mr. Carlton Wayne Wilkes, 64, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 9, 2019 surrounded by his family at Morrison Manor, Laurinburg, NC. Wayne was born on September 23, 1954 in Dillon, SC to the late Carl and Shirley Faye Gaddy Wilkes. He was a member of Bruton Fork Baptist Church.

Wayne was an exceptional truck driver for over 40 years. Most of all he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and his great grandchild.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory; his wife, Margaret Young Wilkes of Bennettsville; a son, Robert Allan Whitt, of McColl; daughters, Brandi Michelle Wilkes of Bennettsville, Alana R. Hatcher (Allen) of Bennettsville, Whitney Wilkes of Florence; sisters, Rita Wilkes Cardenas (Speedy) of Bennettsville, Sandra Wilkes Powers (Chad) of Bennettsville, Carla Wilkes Lewis (Matthew) of Apex, NC; grandchildren, Summer, Mikhail, Ashton, Sam, Triston, Giulianna, Lenox, Serenity, Allen, Alysa and Taylor; great grandchild, Arianna. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents listed above, maternal grandparents, Erros “E.B.” & Flonny Gaddy; paternal grandparents, Jim and Elizabeth Wilkes. Memorials may be made to Scotland County Hospice, P.O. Box 1033 Laurinburg, NC 28353.

A Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Burroughs Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Funeral Home. On-line condolences may be made to www.
