Carol Ann Neelis An angel returned to heaven on October 18, 2018. This angel, Carol Ann Fenlon, was also born on October 18th in the year 1943 to proud parents Lucille (Sova) and Mark Fenlon of Cheboygan. Carol Ann joined big brother Ronald and would eventually become big sister to Joyce and Timothy.

In August, 1961, Carol Ann married Bernard E. Neelis. Together they raised four children: Laurie, Brenda, Scott and Dana. Carol forever nurtured, loved and encouraged her children.

The love in her heart for her children grew to include 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren who eventually came along: Brett, Brandon, Bethany, Abbi, Josiah, Caitlin, Selena, Lucas, and Tatum; Cameron, Liam, Kaylen, Addison, and Andrew. Carol enjoyed showing her love for others through cooking and baking for family gatherings. Her Texas sheet cake and her hugs are legendary.

Carol was a true people person who never met a stranger. Her sense of humor was uncanny; she kept her family laughing right up to the end. Old country music, Christmas decorations, and watching QVC made her happy.

She always had words of encouragement for anyone she talked with. In fact, in the last few days of her life, Carol had this message for her children and for anyone reading this: Keep Jesus Christ in your heart as your Lord and Savior. Love one another and always tell those who are special to you that you love them.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and Mark Fenlon, her sister, Joyce Smith, her sister-in-law, Carolyn Fenlon (Munn) and many aunts, uncles and cousins whom she is now joyfully reunited with in heaven above. Carol is survived by her husband, four children, two daughters-in-law (Jodi Neelis, Kacy Lassere), one son-in-law (Brian Vanhoy), nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two brothers, two sisters-in-law (Patty Fenlon, Laverne Fenlon), numerous cousins and close friends. A memorial service will be held in the summer of 2019.
