Carol Jean Jeanne Hopfinger , January 19, 1937 — January 09, 2019

Carol Jean “Jeanne”‘s Obituary Carol Jean (Jeanne) Hopfinger died on January 9, 2019, after a long illness. She was born January 19, 1937, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of the late Frederick A. and Cecelia Kraus. Jeanne graduated from Bishop Hogan High School, and met her future husband, Frank who drove her each day to Donnelly College at the suggestion of a friend.

She later transferred to Central Missouri State, earning a teaching certificate. Jeanne taught second grade for several years before having her family. Jeanne and Frank were married on May 31, 1958.

Jeanne never met a stranger. She loved keeping up with the many people she knew, births, weddings and funerals, and other life events. She was known for her wit and her intuitive nature.

Jeanne is survived by her devoted husband of sixty years, Frank Hopfinger, and their six children: Frank Hopfinger, and his wife Mischelle of Lake Forest, IL, Patty Funderburg and her husband, Alex of Charlotte, NC, Susan Baresh and her husband Lou of Dallas, TX, John Hopfinger and his wife Shannon of Kansas City, MO, Jennifer Hopfinger of Olathe, KS, and Jim Hopfinger and his wife Stephanie, of Lee’s Summit, MO. Jeanne enjoyed and was proud of her 16 grandchildren all of whom survive her: Bryan, Brad, Mitch and Carolyn Hopfinger, Alex, Jr., Caroline and Emily Funderburg, Blythe and Louis, Jr. Baresh, Madeline, Jack and Patrick Hopfinger, Lily and Andrew Abadir, and Allie and Sophia Hopfinger. Jeanne is also survived by her sister Kathleen Wirtz and many nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was predeceased by her infant child, Paul Thomas Hopfinger, her parents and her sister Patty McClain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 11822 Holmes Road on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 1 PM. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service at 11:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Church. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living for their care and support.
