Obituary for Carolyn Jean Bernier-Elmeer MIDDLETOWN, CT – Carolyn Jean Bernier-Elmeer, aged 50, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 after a courageous and stoic battle with cancer for more than eight years. She was born in Gardner, Massachusetts, on December 9, 1968, as the third of three children to Margaret and Gerard Bernier. She graduated from Gardner High School and then the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 1991 with a degree in accounting.
She worked as an administrative assistant for the university’s athletic department and was an integral part in running her husband Andrew’s Domino’s franchise for the majority of the time he has owned the company. Carolyn was passionately dedicated to raising her four children. She took on whatever was necessary to ensure her children’s educational success.
She was active in all her children’s school activities and volunteered at every opportunity. She served as the den leader for her son Sean’s Cub Scout pack and was committed to supporting him in attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in 2018. Carolyn was very dedicated to her daughters’ interests which included Andrea’s competitive robotics team and the cheerleading teams of both Alyssa and Katelyn.
Besides spending time with her children, Carolyn enjoyed the various pets that her family has had over the years and spent meaningful summer days at the family lake house in New Hampshire. Carolyn leaves behind her husband of 20 years, Andrew M. Elmeer of Middletown; One son, Sean G. Elmeer; and three daughters, Andrea M. Elmeer, Alyssa A. Elmeer, and Katelyn M. Elmeer. She also is survived by two brothers, John Bernier and his wife Sharon of Virginia, and their two children Meghan and Erik Bernier, as well as Robert Bernier of Massachusetts.
She additionally leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 310 Westfield St. Middletown, Ct. A calling hour will be held the following Monday, January 7, 2019 from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. at the Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central St. Gardner, Massachusetts.
