Obituary for Catherine “Kay” Cronin Catherine “Kay” Cronin, 92, of Summerville, wife of the late William J. Cronin, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Summerville Medical Center. Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 6 to 8 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Monday, June 18, 2018 at 9 o’clock at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 28 Sumter Ave, Summerville, SC.
Entombment will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens Mausoleum, 11000 Dorchester Rd. , Summerville, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 28 Sumter Ave, Summerville, SC 29483 Kay was born on March 26, 1926 in Haverford, PA, daughter of the late Edward and Mary Ellen McNally.
She went to grade school from 1932 to 1940 at Our Mother of Good Counsel in BrynMawr, PA. She then attended Haverford High School and graduated in 1944. She was employed by Provident Mutual Insurance Company from June of 1944 to July of 1955.
She was a Girl Scout leader from 1944 to 1954. Kay married William at Our Mother of Good Counsel on May 1, 1954. They moved to Northeast Philadelphia in May of 1954 and attended St. Timothy’s Parish.
From Dec 1955 to June 1976 they attended Resurrection of Our Lord. In June of 1976 she moved to Summerville where they started attending St. John the Beloved Catholic Church. Kay was coordinator of Coffee and Donuts for Sunday Masses and Gift Bearers for weekend masses and Holidays.
She was a member of Shepard Program in 1986. She was vice president of the Women’s Club in 1984 and became president of the Women’s Club in 1985. She volunteered at Church Rectory from 1986-1988.
She loved babysitting her granddaughters from 1979 to 1994. Kay was a Eucharistic Minister, Greeter, Mailing Committee, and member of the Flowertown Seniors. Survivors include: six children: Cathy Beam (Ted) of Altoona, PA, Dan Cronin (Fran) of Siloam Springs, AR, Peggy Burbage of Summerville, Terry Kramer (the late Harold) of Summerville, Sharon Golden (the late Craig) of Summerville, and Ed Cronin of Summerville; eight grandchildren: Therese, Amanda, Samantha, Christine, Elizabeth, Paul, Cher, and Jason; fourteen great grandchildren: Brianna, Abigail, Alayna, Madisyn, Olivia, Dylan, Wyatt, Steven, Michael, Cary, Whitley, Alyssa, Bryson, Alexis, and Dixie.
She was predeceased by: three brothers: Harry McNally, Edward McNally, and Robert McNally; one sister: Margaret McNally. A memorial message may be written to the family by visiting our website at www. jamesadyal.com.
