Obituary for Wilfredo Lopez Wilfredo Lopez, known to friends as “Fred,” passed away on June 3, 2018, at the age of 71 years old. A native of Bronx, New York, Fred attended Dodge Vocational High School. After graduating, he joined the United States Air Force.

He was stationed at the Charleston Air Force Base in Charleston, SC. In 1973, after being honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, he started his career at the former Charleston Naval Shipyard working in Shop 64, which was the Sail Loft. He retired from the Shipyard in 1995.

After that he worked in the private sector manufacturing canvas tops, seats and other items for boats. In 2009, he retired from the work force and became an avid beekeeper. He also loved tending to his garden.

In addition, he loved watching the hummingbirds outside the bay window of his kitchen. He passed away in his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by: his loving wife of 51 years, Josephine Lopez; his two children, Michael Anthony Lopez (Staci Louise Lopez), Michelle Leigh Thompson; 3 grandchildren, William Michael Lopez, Savannah Reyna Thompson, Marleyna Marie Wilson; his mother, Alejandrina Perez; his father, Felix Lopez; his sister, Lucila (E.G.) Reyes; and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
