Obituary for Catherine L. Adams AUSTINTOWN – Catherine L. Adams, 88, passed away peacefully at 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday September 26, 2018 at the Hospice House in Poland following an extended illness. She was born in Niles on November 15, 1929 the daughter of Ralph R. and Katherine B. (Bender) Nicastro. Catherine attended St. Stephen Elementary School, Niles and was a 1947 graduate of Niles McKinley High School.

She furthered her education by attending Youngstown College and was a secretarial office worker for several businesses. She met her husband Gale, while working at the Youngstown Air Force Base and during her husband’s Air Force career, they lived in Wisconsin, New Jersey and the Philippines before settling in Austintown. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Quilt Club at the Niles Scope Center.

She enjoyed reading, knitting and quilting. Catherine is survived by a brother, Ralph M. “Sonny” (Patricia M.) Nicastro of McDonald, niece Marti Daisy of Hubbard, cousins in Niles, Howland and New Kensington, Pa. and her lifelong friend Shirley Spalvieda of Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gail Eugene Adams whom she married on July 12, 1958 in Saint Stephen Catholic Church, Niles and who died on December 24, 1991. A private Service of Christian Burial and interment was held at Crown Hill Cemetery Chapel in Vienna. The Rev.

James Korda officiated. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the dedicated staff of the Antonine Village of North Jackson, Grace Woods Memory Care Center of Niles and Hospice of the Valley. Arrangements by Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, 126 West Park Avenue, Niles, Ohio 44446 330-652-4311.
