Chalmer William “Hank” Knick, 84, of Pawnee City died at Premier Estates of Pawnee on Friday, February 8, 2019. He was born September 2, 1934, one of 16 children, in Froid, MT at the family farm. He grew up on his family’s farm where he tended livestock, harvested crops and especially enjoyed his time on a tractor or combine for many long hours.

He became his own personal radio by singing all Hank Williams, Sr. songs at full volume along with his harmonica which he had taught himself to play. The local neighbors said they could hear him playing his harmonica when he would be rounding the corner of the fields, even above the equipment he was operating and was said to be quite good, too! He was also a big talent on the dance floor with his fancy two-step and swing moves.

The ladies were always lined up waiting – so he never had to go looking for a partner. His lifetime taught him many different occupations and skills from farming, construction and millwork, to eventually owning and operating his own roofing company along with his wife, Shirley. He had a very strong work ethic always.

He was never late for work, always early and his great happy go lucky personality and joyful smile will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Mae Knick of Pawnee City; three daughters, Peggy Sue Smith of Halsey, OK, Brenda Jean Knick of Brownsville, OR and Janel Marie Klepper of Pawnee City; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Penny Sue Waller of Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Creager Knick; 14 brothers and sisters.

At Hank’s request, there will be no services. The body has been cremated. There will be no viewing.

A memorial has been established to the family for future designation. www. foxfuneralhome.net Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
