Rita Lavon (Diggs) Lemon, 78 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln. She was born on December 27, 1940 in Beatrice to Lester Irvin and Leona Idabelle (Thurman) Diggs. Rita graduated from La Junta High School in La Junta, Colorado.

She married Walter Lemon on August 29, 1965. Rita was a contract carrier with the Beatrice Daily Sun and Lincoln Journal Star for 20 years and held several different jobs including CNA, secretary and farmwife. She enjoyed embroidery, crafts, fishing and yardwork.

Rita is survived by her daughter, Charlene Hintz and husband John of Humboldt; son, Lester Lemon of Beatrice; and brothers, Alvin Diggs and wife Deb of Wichita and Irvin Diggs of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Walter on May 6, 2006; grandson, Henry Hintz; and brothers, Ralph and Freddie. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Prairie Home Cemetery near Diller with Pastor Robert Moody officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 8 PM Friday, March 29, 2019 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
