Obituary for Charles ‘Chuck’ O. Hesler Charles O. ‘Chuck’ Hesler, 74, of Sumner, Illinois passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019. He was born December 6, 1944 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of James and Mildred (McCarty) Hesler. Chuck worked for Texaco for 11-1/2 years and then retired from Marathon after working there for 19-1/2 years.

He also owned and operated Mowtown Lawn Care for 37 years and was a driver for Green Tree Pharmacy. He officiated basketball games for 16 plus years in surrounding areas. He was a member of the Prairieton Church.

He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He served his country in the United States Navy in the Vietnam War. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Glenn Hesler.

Survivors include Esther Hesler of Sumner, Illinois; Ashley, Melanie, Blaine, and Hayden Hesler of Lawrenceville, Illinois; Seth Hesler and Amy Neeley of Flat Rock, Illinois; Bernard and Kathy Hesler, of Lawrenceville, Illinois; Norma Hesler of Sumner, Illinois; and his dog, Auggie. Visitation will be Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
