Obituary for Charles Edward Norris Charles E. Norris, 76 of Gray, TN, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. Charlie had lived in the Oak Grove Community his entire life, and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was in the Army Reserves for several years and worked at Eastman Chemical for 30 years before retiring in 1996.
Charlie loved his family, all of them, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved family get togethers and being surrounded by them, acting goofy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Sarah Norris; one brother, Denver Norris; and one sister and brother-in-law, Dean and Jack Coggins.
Survivors include: son, Chuck Norris; daughter Stephanie Cox; three grandsons, Scotty Cox, McKinley Norris, and Bronson Norris; two great-grandsons, Kingston and Brylan; two sisters, Barbara (Mike) Dixon and Truda (David) Spears; mother of his children, Sharon Norris; four nieces, Kathy Evans, Vickie Fuller, Cissi Hurd, and Missy Hicks; two special great-nieces, Charlsie Hurd and Ashley Spears; Nephews, Mike Dixon, Jr., Randy Spears, Ricky Spears, and Howey Norris; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will gather to receive friends on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Gray from 11:00 am until a funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM with Pastor Sherrell Nave and Mr. Roy Tucker officiating. A graveside service will follow at East Tennessee Cemetery, Blountville.
Nephews and great-nephews will serve as pallbearers. Friends may also visit his sister’s house at any time. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.
