Obituary for James R. “Buck” Jones James R. “Buck” Jones, 88, of Jonesborough, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Waters Health Care Center of Johnson City. He was a native of Johnson City and son of the late Lincoln and Margaret Hopson Jones. In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Jones, and three brothers: Jack Jones, Bill Jones, and Gary “Gab” Jones.

He was a lifelong resident of Washington County. Buck proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, fighting in the Korean War. He was a truck driver most of his life and retired from Humbolt Trucking Company.

Those left to cherish Buck’s memory include his son, David Jones, of Gray, sister, Sharon Mers, Burlington, NC, brother, Roy Jones (Betty), of Gray, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend Jay Dee Slagle. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be sent to Oakland Presbyterian Church 650 Oakland Road, Telford, TN 37681. The family will honor Buck’s life with a Graveside Service with full military honors at 11:00 am on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Fairview Methodist Church Cemetery in Jonesborough.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am on Friday. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.
