Obituary for Rev. David V. Tydings David V. Tydings, 87, went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2018. He was born in Loyall, KY, to Clyde and Marcia Huff Tydings.

In addition to his parents, David was is preceded in death by a brother, Elmon. David graduated from Dupont-Manuel High School in Louisville, KY, Southwestern Baptist College in Bolivar, MO, Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, TN, and attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. David served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Korean Conflict.

Since 1960, David served the Lord as Pastor to First Baptist Church in Baileyton, TN, New Lebanon Baptist Church. He also served as speaker for the Temperance League of KY, Pastor of Clarkson Baptist, Clarkson, KY, Bowmantown Baptist, Jonesborough, TN, Chinquapin Baptist, Bluff City, TN. He served as Director of Missions for Grainger County Association of Baptist, Rutledge, TN, where he retired.

Missing his service to the Lord, David served as interim pastor to several churches in the area. He also served as Chaplain for Amedysis Hospice, as well as honorary Pastor of the Korean Church in Kingsport, TN. He volunteered with the coffee ministry at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Left to cherish his memory, are his loving wife of 66 years, Sarah Gash Tydings, daughter, Brenda Tydings Peterson (Steve), granddaughter, Breanna ton, great-granddaughter, Bella, sister, Fay McEwan, of Louisville, KY. David’s family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. James Dykes and staff, the many nurses and staff at JCMC and Home Health. The family will gather to greet friends on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 5:00 pm until a Celebration of David’s Life at 7:00 pm at Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City with Reverend Tim Tapp officiating.

A Graveside and Committal service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in Rev. Tydings memory to Central Baptist Church in Johnson City. 300 North Roan St. Johnson City, Tennessee 37601.
