Obituary for Annis Lavada Cox Vines Coates Annis Lavada Cox Vines Coates, 78, of Jonesborough, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Four Oakes Health Care. She was a native of Johnson City and daughter of the late Joseph H. Cox and Eleanor Barnett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James “Stoney” Vines, and brothers: Joe Thomas Cox, and James “Butch” Sweeney.

Annis’ favorite color was red and it showed by the love she had for everyone in her life. Her loving heart, and because of the color red and her sense of style she will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was always the center of attention when it came to style and could never have too much bling.

She was brilliant and a class favorite in high school yet content to be a seamstress and a homemaker after graduation. She loved sewing and was eager to continue sewing even later in life. Those left to cherish Annis’ memory include her daughter, Dani Tipton and Annis’ favorite son-in-law, Chris, son, Rocky Vines and his wife Gigi, grandchildren: Rachael, Leah, Allie, Trish, Heather, Cole, Tyler, and Will; great-grandchildren: Trinity, and Christian; her brother, Rick Sweeney and his wife Joyce, special friends: Bobbie Carrier, Sissy Byrd, and Sharon Crain.

Annis’ family will gather to share memories with friends on Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Fellowship Community Church in Watauga. A private family Graveside service will be held at a later date. Due to her love of animals, the family ask that donations be sent to the Washington County Animal Shelter 3411 N. Roan Street Johnson City TN 37601.
