Obituary for Joy Lee Simmons Ms. Joy Lee Simmons, age 66, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 27, 2018, after an extended battle with cancer, from Hillview Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Bishop Freeman. Ms. Simmons was a good hearted person, giving, and never afraid to sacrifice for her family or friends.

She especially loved animals and spending time with her family. Ms. Simmons was of the Pentecostal faith. In addition to her parents Ms. Simmons is preceded in death by her husband of over 20 years, Roger Simmons; her grandparents; and several brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Gary Simmons of Elizabethton; a step son, Mark Simmons of Elizabethon; a step-daughter, Diane Simmons of Elizabethton; her sisters, Joyce Garland of Elizabethton, Helen Guinn of NC, Freda Britt of NC, and Carolyn Howell of Telford. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In memory of Ms. Simmons a donation may be made in lieu of flowers to the Carter County Animal Shelter, 135 Sycamore Shoals Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedysis Hospice of Elizabethton for their care of Ms. Simmons during her time of illness. Online condolences may be shared with the family on our website, www. tetrickfuneralhome.com.
