Charles G. “Butch” Helmandollar, age 71, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away at 12:35 A.M. Sunday, September 2, 2018 at home surrounded by his family and close friends. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio May 5, 1947, to the late Rodney Arlen and Blanche (Mumford) Helmandollar. In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by a sister, Darla Corwin.

On August 29, 1965, Butch married the former Rita Thornton in Quincy, Ohio, and she survives along with their three daughters, Dawn (Brad) Worch of Columbus, Ohio, Dee Dee (Dale) Kret of Columbus, and Darcy (Scott) Marlow of Huntsville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Britney Worch, Evan Kret, Sydney Kret, Hannah Marlow, and Bradley Worch; a sister, Virginia (Henry) Wydra of Sisters, Oregon; an aunt, Mary Ruth Ball; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Butch graduated from Riverside High School in 1965 where he was a varsity athlete. He is the only athlete in the school’s history to letter in five varsity sports in the same year.

Butch began his working years at the age of twelve at the Quincy Lumber Co He continued working in construction until 1982, having built more than 35 homes in the area including every home he and his family lived in together. Butch retired as a manager at Honda of America.

He was a member of the Gretna Brethren Church and enjoyed golfing. He also loved his grandchildren dearly and enjoyed attending their school events. Family and friends will surely miss Butch.

He was a very kind, gentle and loving man, a devoted family man, loved so much by his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff, Ohio. Pastor Rob Starnes will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Gretna Brethren Church in Bellefontaine, Ohio.

Burial will follow the funeral service at the Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff. The funeral arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff. DS Donations may be made to: Gretna Brethren Church 1564 Twp.
