Charles I. “Charlie” Everhart, Jr., 85, of Tiffin, died at 6:40 pm, Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center. Charles was born December 3, 1932, in Tiffin to Charles I. and Martha (Shiley) Everhart, Sr He married Alma Sendelbach July 9, 1955, at St. Joseph Catholic Church and she survives in Tiffin.

Other survivors include two sons, Ronald (Sylvia) Everhart and Larry (Annette) Everhart both of Tiffin; a daughter, Catherine (Clyde) Smith of Tiffin; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers, Lewis (Ann) Everhart of Marblehead, Clifford “Jake” (Donna) Everhart of Tiffin; two sisters, Clara Best of Tiffin, and Roberta Rowe of Shelbiana, Kentucky; sister-in-law Marge Everhart of Tiffin. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, James and Michael Everhart; a sister, Mary Alice Hartson; a brother, Clayton “Pete” Everhart; a step-grandson, Andrew Smith; two step-brothers, Raymond “Ray” Bailey, William “Bill” Bare and a step-sister, Pat Fuhrer. Charlie was a 1952 graduate of Bloomville High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War.

He was a retired machinist from the National Machinery Company, had also been a driver for the Coca Cola Company, worked maintenance at Heidelberg University, and also worked at Mulligan Gas. Charlie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Tiffin Eagles #402 and the VFW Post #2858 Tiffin. He had enjoyed bowling, was a fan of Ohio State, the Cleveland Indians and country music.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-3113, with a Wake service at 3:30 pm. Prayers will be said at 9:30 am, Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.

The Rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Home Health and Hospice, Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
