Charles R. McClellan, 89, of Spartanburg, SC died Saturday, January 26, 2019 at White Oak Manor. Born November 24, 1929 in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Roy Judson McClellan and Nettie Sue Painter McClellan Merrick, and the widower of Genelle Johnson McClellan. A U. S. Air Force veteran during the Korean War, Mr. McClellan was retired from Milliken & Company as a Supervisor after 43 years of service.

Charles was a member of Drayton Baptist Church for over 20 years, where he served as Minister of Music and as a Deacon. He was most devoted to his Lord, family, friends, and church. He had a Christian CD ministry for shut-ins for many years.

Survivors include his son, The Rev. Scott McClellan (Carol) of Spartanburg, SC; his daughter, Lynne Gillespie (Mark) of Spartanburg, SC; a brother, Dale Judson McClellan (Carolyn) of Boiling Springs, SC; granddaughters, Melody McClellan (Wes Akers) of Charlotte, NC, Grace McClellan of Charleston, SC, and Jenna Gillespie of Spartanburg, SC. He was also predeceased by brothers, Ken and Benny.

Visitation will be at 12:30 – 1:45 PM, Monday, January 28, 2019 at Drayton Baptist Church Sanctuary, 11 Floyd Street, SC 29333. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, conducted by The Rev. David Frost, The Rev.

Scott McClellan, and The Rev. Van Pigate. Burial with military honors will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, provided by American Legion Post #28.
