Charles Thomas “Charlie” “Tommy” Baird, 69, of Taneytown, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, December 7, 2018. Born on March 11, 1949 in Hanover, PA he was the son of the late Charles Hamilton and Pauline Virginia Baird. He was the beloved husband of the late Dawn Marie Baird, who predeceased him in February 2007.

Charlie was a graduate of Westminster High School, class of 1967. He worked as a machinist for Diecraft and Keystone, and retired from Rockland Machine. Charlie… Read More » loved working on cars, small engines, woodworking, and could fix just about anything.

Many years ago he liked riding his Harley, and took several riding trips along the East Coast. Charlie looked forward to meeting up every month for lunch with his friends from high school, and he also enjoyed watching old western movies. Surviving him are sons Matthew Thomas Baird and his wife Mary of Cockeysville, and Jeffrey Charles Baird who is currently a Marine stationed in California and his companion Celeste; brother and sister-in-law Ron and Jill Baird of Littlestown; sister and brother-in-law Charline and Johnny Fowler of Taneytown; fur grandbabies Malibu and Spookey; and dedicated friends and neighbors The Tate Family.

In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by infant daughter Ashley Marie Baird. The family will welcome friends on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd. , Westminster.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11 am at the funeral home with his sister, Chaplain Charline Fowler, and his devoted friend, Dr. Jason Tate, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Charlie’s name to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) www.
